Yeni doğan bebekler günde 20 saat uyurken, 4 yaşına kadar olan çocukların 12 saat, 10 yaşına kadar olanların ise günde ortalama 10 saat uykuya ihtiyaçları var. Yaşlılar ise günde 6-7 saat uyurken birçok yetişkine ise gecede 7-9 saat uyku yeterlidir.
iyi bir gece uykusundan sonra insanlar kendilerini çok iyi hissettikleri belirtiliyor. Peki bu nasıl oluyor? Biz uykudayken vücudumuzda neler oluyor? Çocuklarda büyüme hormonu ile bağışıklık sistemi için önemli olan kimyasallar uyku sırasında salgılanıyor. Eğer yeterince uyumazsanız, hastalıklara karşı dirençsiz olursunuz ve çocuklar ise yeterince gelişemezler.
Hiç kimse niçin uyduğumuzu gerçekten bilmiyor, ancak işte size bununla ilgili çeşitli teoriler:
1· Uyku, vücuda kasların, diğer dokuların onarılması ve yaşlı, ölü hücrelerin yenilenmesi için şans veriyor.
2· Uyku beyine hafızayı düzenlemesi ve depolaması için şans veriyor. Rüyaların da bu sürecin bir parçası olduğu düşünülüyor.
3· Uyku enerji tüketimini yavaşlatıyor, böylece günde 4-5 kez yerine 3 kez yemek yiyoruz.
4· Uyku beynin yeniden şarj edilmesinin bir yoludur.
Niçin uykuya ihtiyacımız var?
Niçin uykuya ihtiyacımız olduğunu anlamanın yolu, yeterince uyumadığımızda neler olduğuna bir göz atmaktan geçer:
5· Uyumayan insan, ertesi gün sinirli olur ve çok çabuk yorulur.
6· İki gece uykusuz kalan insan ise daha kötü olur. Konsantrasyonu bozulur ve dikkat süresi düşer, fazla hata yapar.
7· 3 günlük uykusuzluktan sonra ise kişi halüsinasyon görmeye başlar ve aklını toparlayamaz, düşünemez. Eğer uykusuzluk devam ederse, kişi idrak yetisini de yitirir.
Her gece 2-3 saat uyuyan insanda da zaman geçtikçe aynı problemler görülüyor. Eğer uykusuzluk süresi 3 günden de fazla olursa, kişinin durumu daha da kötüleşiyor ve hatta ölüme kadar gidebiliyor.
